Clothing addition...top ten pieces I can't live without. I am not a fashion diva. I enjoy feeling cute, but it has to be simple!
1. Levi Jeans:: Have them in light and dark. Dark dresses up, light is casual. They fit me great so this is why I love them!
2.White Camis:: I wear these under everything from a thin shirt to a heavy sweater.
3. Keens shoes
4. Land's End Cardigans:: They come in a range of colors. At certain times of the year they are a steal. Thinking of changing up some of the buttons to give some zing to the looks. But for now they are fine.
5. Colorful necklaces:: When in doubt add a colorful necklace to make an outfit feel complete.
6.Casual Fun cotton dresses:: Doesn't matter the season I have one or two solid colored cotton dresses. These can be worn alone or worn with lots of accessories.
7. My flats:: I have cute flats in plain black, shiny reptile red, coral and patent leather blue with buckles. These can be worn with dresses, jeans, pants and skirts. They are a must have from fall to spring.
8. PJs:: yes I did say pjs. Once dinner is over and I know we are in for the night, I love changing into my cute, comfy pajamas. I have a range of cute sets and adorable nightgowns. Getting dressed down for be puts me in a relaxed mood.
9. Workout gear:: I love to walk. I also like really playing with my kids at the playground or on outings. So I need a few cute looks that can go from working out to the grocery store.
10. A sweatsuit:: A must, every year I buy my kids one adorable sweatsuit for those lazy days in the house when it's raining or we have colds. I have two sweatsuits of my own that go with these days. It's almost like eating comfort food when I'm in them. This year I'm thinking of buying myself a new sweatsuit to go with the kids.
Back to Basics...focus more on the kids, with a bit of food, fashion and fun for me.

Top Ten Tuesday...ways to feel wonderful
Even if you know me, you may not know that I'm confident when it comes to my looks. Never been asked to model, never been in a pageant....so I don't mean that sort of confident. What I'm referring to is when I look in the mirror, I am pleased with what I see. Yes, there are days when I would rather be slimmer, taller or have some sort of different physical attributes. But I like myself, there I said it. I like me, just as I am. Here are top ten ways I encourage myself to feel pretty
1. I say (out loud or to myself) in the mirror, "you are beautiful". I also try to tell my kids this everyday too...or some version of it. Telling the kids is the easy part!
2. Make up, clothes and hair. I'll only do one on these topics. I wear what I like. I put time and effort into myself on most days. It used to make me feel selfish to take longer than 5 minutes getting ready. Now I relish trying to whip up cute looks fast!
3. I listen to what my husband says. What on earth does that one mean? He tells me I look pretty or nice and I believe him. Enough said. This goes for what my friends say too. I try hard to know how to take a compliment.
4. I mostly do things I am good at and things I like. Love to try new things, love to take on new hobbies. But if you ask me to go out for Sushi, I say no. Want to jump out of plane? You got the wrong lady. Now that I am 35, I know myself well and I generally try to do things I like. Who has time to waste?
5. I usually wear beautiful pajamas. A few years back I ditched most of my uggo pjs and went with pretty sets that look and feel good. No, I'm not talking about lingerie. But I am talking about florals, striped, soft, silky, cozy sets with feminine flair. It's fun to feel cute before hitting the sack.
6.I've mentioned this before on my blog. But with all the hustle and bustles a young family provides, I try to do something for myself daily. Sometimes, it is just sitting to type this. Other days it's a bubble bath, time to read, walking alone or time with friends. Come to think of it. I probably do several things a day just for me! Go me!
7. I'm a cheerleader. Not the pom pom types. But I like to encourage others (or at least try to). What is awesome about this is that I hear that positive cheerleadery type voice most of the time. When I'm trying to get something done my inner voice says "you can do it". If I've finished all the laundry she says" you are a rock star." Sounds funny but it helps my confidence tons!
8. My kids go to bed almost every night by 8:00. this means time with my husband. Some nights it means guilt free night out with friends. Either way, I enjoy the time with the kids, but we stay stern on their bedtime so we have time together.
9. I eat and drink things that are good for me. This is a tough one, it happens the majority of the time. Usually when I'm home I eat well. But it feels awesome to take good care of yourself.
10. I laugh as often as I can. Life is tough. There are lots of reasons to get down. But when a good reason to laugh comes along, I let go and laugh.
Last tip is to get at least 6 hugs a day. Learned this as a teacher and it works!

Top Ten Tuesday...my tribute to Millie in photos
On Sunday evening I said goodbye to my best friend, Millie. She was eleven and one of the best golden retrievers ever. I have so many happy memories of her. Seems impossible that she is gone. In true Millie style we had no idea she was sick, until just hours before putting her to sleep. Today I'm feeling a bit better than yesterday and thought doing a post on her may help the healing. Having dealt with a lot of loss in my life, I know that hugs help. Also getting past the awful feeling of loss includes remembering the best things about our loved ones.

Here is my favorite chair. I decorated an entire floor of my house around the color and feel of this chair. It quickly became Millie's when she got big enough to get on it. I vividly can remember coming in the door and seeing her curled up in it.

This is Millie doing the bump. As you can tell from the state of my green wall (from my Chestnut Hill days), she liked to do it a lot. We called it doing the bump, because if you sang that song, it looked like she was really dancing to the tune. Most people know that Millie helped me get through the loss of my parents. This was one of the ways. If I began crying, she would either come to me for a cuddle or grab a toy and assume the "bump" position. It always made me laugh and got me focused on the present.

Just silly!
Us lounging...best cuddling dog ever. She wasn't little, about 80 pounds, but she never stopped thinking she was puppy size. Seriously if I had tried to put her in a purse (or large piece of luggage) she would have happily been carried around.
This is the pose Millie would take when she was in the back of the car. A rearview glance in the mirror, usually showed this position. It was even funnier when it was flanked by two car seats. Wish I had that photo too.
Loved to swim, absolutely loved it. If there was water, she was in it. On many of our hikes and treks, I wouldn't realize there was a body of water near, until she began pulling in the direction of a swim.
Cuddling and scratching her face simultaneously. This was a signature Millie move that I adored. Even when she was a tiny puppy, she would push her head into any space (think bent elbow) for a self done nose rub.
Millie played with the kids so nicely. Not one child toy was ever consumed or chewed by my mil, mils (her nickname). From letting them "ride" her, to getting her hair done and always playing the role of the animal in our pretend play. What a great dog!
Stick eating....ever since Millie was a puppy she could devour sticks. It kept our yard looking pretty nice, I must say! There is a funny story about Millie at about 5 months. We were at my moms and she had a full day of stick eating. My mom was having friends over, so I left for some time. As my mom told it "the ladies were all enjoying some tea" (all sounds very proper). Millie came into the middle of their group, so as not be left out, and threw up a pile of sticks that my mom said resembled a bonfire. Of course the ladies and my mom were horrified. When I heard the story it made me laugh, especially the exaggeration.
Always part of the action. This picture shows Millie helping us look for hidden easter eggs in the yard. There are similar pictures of her amid piles of wrapping paper on Christmas, mingling at any of our parties with the guests and sneaking her way into lots of family shots. This will be how I will always remember her life with my kids. She was part of everything.
She liked to sit right by the kids when they were in this stage, the sitting up but not moving yet stage. Once they started to crawl and walk she knew to move away rather than get stepped on.
A few years ago, we started shaving Millie to cut down on the hair clean up and allergies here. My daughter is allergic to cats and dogs, but by the grace of God Chelsea had no problems with Millie. She always looked so cute, fluffy and cuddly after a haircut.
A big part of Millie's story was how easy going she was. In this picture we're heading to Sand bridge VA for a vacation at dog friendly beach. She was chilling in the back with her paws crossed most of the trip. More recently she went with us to the Poconos all the time. Her favorite past time there was to sit on the deck and watch for animals.

Top Ten Tuesday, Halloween Candy
Here are the top ten things would like to find in my daughter's candy bag this year. We're doing complete swaps for their entire candy bags this year. This way she'll have the fun of gathering up the goodies and getting safe treats. What I am hoping the little ones collect???
1. Baby Ruth...the best candy bar ever, hands down, without a doubt. In fact my list could stop here. It is a much overlooked treat, but tops my list. Have you ever seen a baby ruth blizzard at Dairy Queen?...thought not. Hoping to get a few of the mini ones.
2. Butterfinger...Bart Simpson and I both love these.
3. M&Ms...I would never buy these, but they are terrific.
4. Snickers
5. Reese's Peanut Butter Cup (as you can see 4/5 in the top have peanut in them...yum!)
6. Necco Wafers...no one gives these out anymore. Is it because of the thin waxpaper used to hold them in? These remind me of my mom and are fun.
7. Banana Laffy Taffy's...bad for teeth, good for belly
8. Dots...another dental nightmare
9.Regular Hershey Bar...growing up, it was the best when our neighbor gave out full size original hershey bars......can't go wrong with that one.
10. Reese's Pieces...it's like adding #3 and #5 and reminds me of ET my favorite childhood movie.
Have no fear, Chris will be bringing most of the loot to work. I won't be sending my blood sugars sky rocketing come next Monday. But I'll snag a few treats, especially if any of these are in the bag. Of course I'll share a few "unsafe" treats with Gavin, while Chelsea's at school too.
